Jennifer B. Sheehan is a member of the Firm's Life Insurance department. Ms. Sheehan focuses on group and individual life insurance and annuity legal and regulatory matters. She advises on legal issues related to the design, marketing, sale and administration of insurance products; assists insurers with the preparation, filing and approval of insurance product filings with state insurance departments; represents insurers in matters before insurance departments; advises insurers on insurance department examination and market conduct issues and other insurance related matters.
Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Sheehan worked for the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company for 17 years in various capacities, most recently as Assistant Vice President in the Investment Products Practice Group. In this role, Ms. Sheehan acted as the primary legal counsel for issues relating to the development, sale and administration of individual deferred and immediate fixed annuity products. She provided legal support on state regulatory issues, including policy form requirements, for individual fixed and variable annuities and also advised on all non-tax related issues arising out of the sale of the company's structured settlement annuity product. Prior to that, Ms. Sheehan acted as the dedicated attorney for the Corporate Owned and Bank Owned Life Insurance (COLI/BOLI) and Group Life Insurance business area. In this capacity, Ms. Sheehan developed and updated variable life prospectuses and Private Offering memoranda, provided legal support during sales negotiations of large case individual and group variable and universal life insurance products and advised on state insurance and federal securities law issues impacting proposed and actual transactions.
Ms. Sheehan is a volunteer at a crime victim crisis center in Albany and at an Albany-area animal shelter. She is a member of the Albany Running Exchange and the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club.
